WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - The Supreme Court handed conspiracy theorist Alex Jones a huge loss Tuesday morning. The high court rejected his appeal of the $1.4 billon dollar settlement against him following the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting.

The $1.4 billion dollar ruling against the Infowars founder stems from Jones’ description of the shooting that killed 26 people, including 20 children. Jones asserted repeatedly on his talk show that the victims were crisis actors and claimed the shooting was a “hoax”

Jones’ lawyers argued that the lower court judge was incorrect finding him liable for defamation and emotional distress because there was no trial solely on the allegations of defamation. However, the state court also found that Jones refused to follow court process and to abide by court rulings. Separately, Jones is appealing another $49 million dollar judgement in a similar defamation suit in Texas, after refusing to turn over documents sought by another Sandy Hook parent.

Jones filed for bankruptcy in in 2022 following the initial judgement, and his lawyers have stated that the “plaintiffs have no possible hope of collecting” the entire judgment. As part of that bankruptcy he has forced to liquidate most of Infowars assets including the website and some of Jones personal property. The satirical news outlet “The Onion” was the winning bidder in an auction last November to help pay the judgement, but the auction results is also tied up in a Texas state court.

The Supreme Court justices simply found ‘certiorari denied’ – making no further comment on the ruling to reject Alex Jones appeal of the massive settlement.
