Plane hits, kills woman on runway

WILMINGTON, N.Y. (WCAX/Gray News) - One woman is dead after an accident involving a plane in upstate New York.

It happened around 3:45 p.m. Friday.

State police said a single-engine, two-seat plane landed at Catalano Airfield and was making its way to the hangar when it struck a person on the runway.

Police said 67-year-old Pamela Haselton was on the runway taking photos of the plane with a camera on a tripod.

They said when the plane was approaching, Haselton tried to move the tripod out of the way, and the pilot didn’t see her.

New York State Police are working with the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board to investigate the incident.
