WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) sees a path forward for votes to move the “one big beautiful bill” forward by the weekend.

President Donald Trump wants to sign the legislation by the July 4 weekend. Capitol Hill is supposed to be on recess as of June 26.

In an interview with Gray Media’s Washington News Bureau, the senate majority leader admitted the chamber is at the point in the process where they’ve just got to move.

“There are a lot of, you know, bridges we have to cross before we get there. And one of them is the floor of the United States Senate. But then you’d have to have success even if you get it across the Senate floor. The House would have to take it up and get it on the president’s desk by the 4th of July. But I do think we are on a path and nothing is certain around here. And I don’t take anything for granted until we actually get there. But I think we’re on a trajectory now to get this through the Senate by the by the weekend.”
