LOUISA, VA (WWBT) - A couple faces felony charges after authorities say they were overheard saying they wanted to set fire to Louisa County Middle School and attack students and staff.

Adrian Reeves, 31, and Marlana Milan, 33, were arrested on Sept. 8 after someone heard them make the threats and called the sheriff's office, according to Major Donald Lowe. Officials say they are taking the threat seriously, but don't believe there is any current danger for the building, staff or students.

A letter was sent home with students on Friday, according to The Central Virginian.

Both Reeves and Milan are charged with attempted arson on an occupied public building and conspiracy malicious wounding. They are due in court on the charges in November.

The couple also faces a misdemeanor possession of marijuana charge from a separate incident days earlier, according to court records.

Louisa County Middle School Principal Todd Weidow sent out the following letter to parents:

Dear Louisa County Middle School families:

In these first few weeks as LCMS principal, I have enjoyed getting to know our children, our families, and our staff members. Please know that my door is always open to you as we continue to make LCMS the best middle school around!

I want to make you aware of an incident that occurred late yesterday afternoon.  On Thursday, September 8, an adult was overheard making threats to do harm to LCMS. The individual was off of school property at the time, but another citizen reported it to the Louisa County Sheriff's Office, which in turn reported it to Louisa County Public Schools. Our school division is fully cooperating with the Louisa County Sheriff's Office's investigation. The sheriff's office has notified Louisa County Public Schools that, as a result of the ongoing investigation, two individuals have been taken into custody and that it is unclear at this time whether the threat was credible.

We appreciate the fast response and ongoing support of law enforcement in ensuring that LCMS is safe.

Thank you for your support of LCMS and have a good weekend.

Todd Weidow
LCMS Principal
