Man brings firearm to water gun fight, shoots teenage girl
RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A Texas man is behind bars after police said he fired a pistol during a water gun fight, wounding a 15-year-old girl.
According to NBC News, the teenager suffered non-life threatening injuries after being shot in the neck during the water gun fight in a small community just north of Houston Saturday.
Neighbors said the two were having a water gun fight and, at one point, the man went to his car to retrieve dry clothes.
"He must have had the gun so he started playing with it. I thought he probably had it on safety and he accidentally shot the girl in her collar bone area," Micha Stewart said to NBC affiliate KPRC.
Police did not release additional information on the case due to the ongoing investigation but they did say the man is facing deadly conduct charges.
It is unknown if the girl is still hospitalized. A bullet from the shooting also struck a car five houses away, KPRC reported.
