VSP helicopters search for missing Amelia woman near James River
RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The search for the Amelia County woman who's been missing for more than a week now extends to Richmond.
Choppers were in the air and crews could be seen scanning the James River in the search for Olene Brooks.
Virginia State Police were seen circling Williams Island at Pony Pasture in helicopters. No word in what they uncovered. Police confirm it's part of the search for the 68-year-old abducted on January 21.
The suspect in the abduction, Dana William, shot himself in the head in Massachusetts as police tried arresting him. William is also suspected in the death of Olene's husband, Woodell Brooks.
This past weekend, the Sheriff's Office, Virginia State Police, and Virginia Department of Emergency Management increased their presence for the search.
Teams conducted a strategic search in grid patterns on Monday.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Amelia County Sheriff's Office at 561-2118 or Virginia State Police.
