HOPEWELL, Va. (WWBT) - After losing its bond ratings eight years ago, Hopewell has now earned two strong ratings from major credit agencies.
One of the biggest questions now is what this financial turn around will actually mean for people living in the city.
Mayor Johnny Partin says Hopewell has some major infrastructure needs and these new ratings could help them tackle it.
In 2018, Hopewell lost its bond ratings. Now, the city has earned a double A-three from Moody’s.
“It shows that we pay our bills on time. It also shows that we have a stable and healthy outlook moving into the future,” Mayor and Ward 3 Councilor Johnny Partin said.
