One of the first people to respond to the Pentagon reflects on 9/11

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - First responders, city leaders and community members in Richmond gathered Friday to mark 25 years since the Sept. 11 attacks, remembering the nearly 3,000 people killed.

Virginia State Police Sgt. Michael Middleton shared reflections during the observance. Middleton was one of the first responders to arrive at the Pentagon after the attack.

Middleton reflected on the moment 25 years ago when his sons, then one and four years old, waited at home for him as he responded to the attack.

On Friday, both sons stood beside him in uniform as state troopers, following their father into the profession.
