17-year-old charged in Hopewell shooting

Police in Hopewell are investigating a shooting that led to the arrest of a 17-year-old.

HOPEWELL, Va. (WWBT) -Police in Hopewell are investigating a shooting that led to the arrest of a 17-year-old.

On Thursday, March 19 just after 4:45 p.m., Hopewell officers were called to the 100 block of Ruth Harris Way for the report of a 32-year-old man who was shot in a fight.

The man was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

Hopewell Police say they arrested a 17-year-old boy who was responsible for the shooting.

The teen was charged with malicious wounding, possessing a gun as a juvenile, and reckless handling of a firearm.

He is currently held at Crater Juvenile Detention Center.
