Naturalization Ceremony awards citizenship to nearly 100 people

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Nearly 100 people gained their citizenship today on Constitution and Citizenship Day in America.
12 On Your Side attended the ceremony on Wednesday morning. People were ready to take the Oath of Allegiance at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture.
The new Americans hail from 40 countries. Governor Glenn Youngkin told the crowd that American citizenship is one of the most prized possessions in the world.
According to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, it typically takes 3-5 years to become a U.S. citizen. For some, it can take more than a decade.
