Former Hanover substitute instructional assistant arrested on child pornography charges

HANOVER, Va. (WWBT) - A 23-year-old former substitute instructional assistant is behind bars after being charged with possession of child pornography.
The Hanover County Sheriff’s Office says Caleb Matthew Elkins, a Mechanicsville resident, is facing 19 felony charges, including possessing and distributing child sexual abuse materials.
Investigators said they received a tip in January that led to a raid on his home.
Hanover schools confirmed with 12 On Your Side that Elkins had been employed as a substitute instructional assistant since March 4, but he worked only our school days and two half days.
The division also says they are not aware of any incidents that may have occurred involving any Hanover students.
Elkins is now behind bars in Pamunkey Regional Jail.
