LOUISA, Va. (WWBT) - A fire truck driver suffered minor injuries after a crash early Thursday.

Virginia State Police say the single-vehicle crash happened at 2:12 a.m. in the 4000 block of Cross Country Road.

“A Louisa County Fire Department Tanker veered off the right side of the road, slid down a small embankment and overturned onto the driver’s side,” state police said.

The Louisa County fire chief says the driver was taken to the hospital and later released.

“There were no passengers and the vehicle was loaded with about 3,000 gallons of water,” state police said.

The driver was responding to a house fire, officials said.

“Career and volunteer personnel and mutual aid partners worked together to get the fire under control in less than one hour,” Fire Chief Kristin Hawk said. “Before units arrived, residents used a garden hose to keep the fire from spreading, greatly contributing to the favorable outcome. No one was injured and the cause of the fire is under investigation.”
