HAMPTON, Va. (WWBT) - A jury in Hampton has found Cory Bigsby guilty of murdering his 4-year-old son and hiding his body, reports say.

The jury deliberated for nearly two hours Tuesday before convicting Cory of second-degree murder and concealment of a body.

Prosecutors say Cory killed his son Codi, and hid his body for nearly seven months before reporting him missing in 2022.

Codi’s body has never been found.

During this year’s General Assembly, state lawmakers proposed the Codi Alert, which stands for Critical Operation for a Disappeared Child Initiative Alert.

The alert would be triggered if a child 17 or younger goes missing. The goal is to cut through some of the red tape when it comes to Amber Alerts with a more targeted local approach.
