HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - As election officials anticipate large voter turnout for Virginia's primary next month, Henrico Public Schools are making March 1 a student holiday and a planning day for staff.

The Henrico Electoral Board raised concerns about adequate parking and the possible disruption to buses arriving and exiting schools that are designated polling places.

More than half of Henrico's 92 polling places are located inside public schools.

In order to make up for lost classroom time, Wednesday, March 2 will now be a regular full day of instruction for students.

Chesterfield County schools are also closed to students on March 1. This was announced in mid-January.

March 1 is the "Super Tuesday" primary, when voters in 11 states, including Virginia, will cast votes for party presidential nominees.
