CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) - Two weeks after two VDOT contract workers were shot and killed at an equipment staging site in Chesterfield, their families are still searching for answers and the suspect remains at large.

Phillip Wilson and Rai’shon DeLarge were shot and killed on July 24 at the site.

Virginia State Police identified 37-year-old Dennikia Boyce as the suspect. She has been on the run since the shooting.

Mykala Wilson, Phillip Wilson’s sister, spoke with 12 On Your Side earlier this week and said her family is still trying to make sense of what happened.

“From what was told to us, just she did it and she just left like it was nothing,” Mykala Wilson said. “I don’t understand how someone’s heart can be in that kind of position.”

She said the shooting has devastated both families.

“What you did was just so wrong and so unfortunate,” Mykala Wilson said. “And you have ruined the lives of two incredible families.”

DeLarge’s family said they are not ready to speak on camera but say their hearts are hurting.

Virginia State Police said investigators are actively following leads and tips and are working with the U.S. Marshals Service to locate Boyce.

Mykala Wilson called on Boyce to surrender.

“They did not deserve to be murdered, and our lives, again, will just never be the same,” Mykala Wilson said. “Never. So just turn yourself in. We just want justice for them. We just want to be able to have some sort of peace.”

Virginia State Police are asking anyone who knows Boyce’s whereabouts to contact them directly. Anyone who sees her is asked to call 911 immediately.
