Henrico Police find vehicle connected to fatal hit-and-run

A man is in the hospital after he was hit by a car while walking across Brook Road Sunday evening.

HENRICO, Va. (WWBT) - A man is now dead after a fatal hit-and-run crash right before Thanksgiving.

On Sunday, Nov. 23, around 7:45 p.m., Henrico Police responded to the area of Brook Road and Bridgeport Avenue, near Parham Road, for a reported medical emergency.

Once on scene, officers found Austin Chance Ratliff, 36, down in the roadway. He was taken to the hospital with life‑threatening injuries and later died on Thursday, Nov. 27.

The preliminary investigation indicates Ratliff was in the roadway when he was run over by a car in the middle lane.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash drove away from the scene.

Investigators with the Henrico Police Crash Team found the vehicle of interest, and it was taken into evidence.
