Woman accused of shooting man to death in front of 12-year-old boy watching ‘Toy Story’

KILLINGLY, Conn. (WFSB/Gray News) - Authorities in Connecticut say a man was shot and killed in front of a young boy in an area home earlier this week.

Connecticut State Police said 65-year-old Michelle Yeagher was arrested in connection with Monday night’s shooting.

Authorities said they responded to a house on Pratt Road for reports of a shooting.

According to Yeagher’s arrest report, she told police that she shot the man because he tried to kill her.

Police said the 40-year-old man was shot several times.

Troopers noted that Yeagher was naked from the waist down and seemed intoxicated when they arrived at the home.

A 12-year-old boy was also inside the home at the time of the shooting. Authorities said he told police that he was watching “Toy Story” with the man when Yaegher came into the room and shot him.

Troopers said they found the man unresponsive inside the front door. He was transported to a local hospital, where he died.

Yeagher was placed in handcuffs and put on a stretcher around 11:30 p.m., according to video obtained from the scene.

Yeagher is facing charges that include carrying a dangerous weapon, risk of injury to a child, murder, and first-degree reckless endangerment. She was given a $1 million bond.

State police said their investigation remains ongoing.
