Soccer clubs join to form Richmond United

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Two Richmond soccer clubs - the Strikers and Kickers - have joined to form Richmond United.

Organizers say the move will help streamline the region’s programs and offer a more cohesive experience to about 10,000 soccer players across Central Virginia.

“At the new Richmond United, we’re combining the strength and experience of the Strikers and Kickers to unlock even more growth, opportunities, and achievement,” the new soccer club posted on its website. “With common goals and a vision for our programs, we’re forging a path to higher levels of competitive play for all our athletes.”

The leadership team says it’s working on a smooth transition to plan for the 2025-26 season.

“Together, we are giving our athletes more access to top coaches, better resources, upgraded facilities, and competitive tournaments,” Richmond United said. “This partnership means more chances to grow, compete, and be part of stronger, more connected soccer community.”
