RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond Police are investigating four separate shootings that left five people injured.

Police said the first shooting occurred around 8:18 p.m. Saturday on Baker Street, and it happened just as Richmond Police Chief Al Durham finished a walkthrough in the Gilpin Court community.

Word of a sudden rash of shootings in Richmond aren't sitting well with Cheryl Dinkins. She knows first hand just how dangerous bullets can be. Nearly three years ago, her son was shot and killed in Whitcomb Court.

"He was over in Whitcomb Court and he got shot in the corner coming from my sister's house, and I'm still going through it," Dinkins said.

Police say one person was shot during an armed robbery. The victims in all these cases were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Richmond Police Maj. Steve Drew says police are now working to find suspects and none of the incidents appear to be related.

"Possible motives is argument, possibly one being drug related or involving some type of drug transaction another being an individual robbery," Drew said.

They say just 30 minutes later a man was shot in the wrist in the 2300 block of East Leigh Street. he was rushed to VCU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries

Officers say another two people were shot in the 1700 block Carlisle Avenue around 9:47 p.m. in the East End. Police say in this case a woman is suspected of shooting the victims in a drive-by.

They said a robbery on Jeff Davis on the Southside also lead to the shooting of a man around 12:30 a.m. Sunday. Police are searching for three suspects in that case. Police said that all but one of the victims is out of the hospital.

Another shooting that happened Sunday evening in the Gilpin Court area sent an adult male to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police say he is expected to be okay.
