RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - As part of his budget amendments, Governor Glenn Youngkin is making a proposal that could help millions of drivers in the Commonwealth.

The governor plans to focus on car tax relief in his proposed budget.

The budget plans to set aside $1.1 billion towards a car tax credit fund.

If you are single and make less than $50,000 a year, you could get up to $150 in car tax relief.

Those who live in a two-person household and make up to $100,000 could get up to $300.

This plan is expected to affect an estimated 1.9 million tax filers.

In addition to the car tax relief, Youngkin’s budget includes additional funding for schools, pay increases for Virginia State Police troopers and no taxes on tips.
